For the 24-25 school year, we are seeking a dynamic and engaging leader who is passionate about creative an inspiring and inclusive learning environment to advance our vision Jewish learning from early childhood through 8th grade, teach upper grade Jewish Studies class (specific grades to be determined), and design programs to meet the needs of our broader community.

What is a team lead?
Schechter Boston has a unique organizational structure designed to distribute responsibility for decision making across the school. Three years ago, we created a number of “Team Lead” roles. Team leads split their time between classroom teaching and school leadership. Their leadership may include supervising teachers, designing curriculum, and working closely with senior school leaders to chart and advance the strategic priorities of the school. Team lead roles provide talented teachers with a pathway for career advancement and contribute to Schechter’s innovative and collaborative culture.

Job Description:
Both independently and in collaboration with the Director of Learning and Teaching, the Director of Jewish Life and Learning, and our Jewish Studies team, our Team Lead of Jewish Studies will be a Jewish leader in the school. Specifically, you will:

• Be an inspiring dugma ishit (role model) for students and teachers modeling a passionate, joyful, and deep relationship to Jewish life and learning.
• Collaborate with teachers, teacher-leaders, and school leaders to build and implement a shared vision of how Jewish learning fits into the overall Schechter experience.
• Serve as the resident expert in Jewish learning and as a resource for faculty on Jewish Studies pedagogy and content.
• Offer embedded professional development to teachers on the implementation of Jewish Studies curriculum, including instructional strategies and differentiated instruction, including side-by-side coaching, modeling lessons, in-service professional development sessions, consulting with teachers and learning specialists about students' individualized needs, and recruiting and participating in faculty hiring decisions.
• Coordinate our Jewish Studies curriculum across all grades. This includes setting learning goals, building curricular units, assessing learning, and supporting teachers in implementing these units.
• Expand opportunities for student enrichment and support in Jewish Studies.

As a classroom teacher:

• Design, plan and implement text-focused Jewish Studies lessons and units in their own classroom that motivate students to engage in active, interpretive learning experiences.
• Prepare and implement differentiated instruction, activities and assessments that meet the needs of every student.
• Build relationships with students.
• Create and maintain a safe, well-structured physical environment that is conducive to student learning.
• Participate in ongoing cycles of reflection, both independently and in collaboration with colleagues.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree required
• Some experience studying classical Jewish texts (Tanakh, Talmud) in their original languages
• Minimum of three years experience teaching students, preferably in a middle school setting.
• Exemplary teaching skills.

Pay & Benefits:
Competitive salary; commensurate with experience up to $112,000
